The Tackier the Better Ugly but Great Christmas Sweaters

For all that we rag on them, we won’t not participate in a good ugly Christmas sweater party if we’re invited. Maybe we’re competitive, to the point of wanting to have the ugliest ugly Christmas sweater, or maybe we all secretly just love to buy things. Regardless, this holiday theme is probably the funniest, if not the wackiest, to dress up for. So once you receive that invite, start shopping the nine hideous/hilarious sweaters ahead.
1. Vintage Fly Clothing Co. Ugly Christmas Sweater
Whether or not you know how to twerk, you definitely know what it is. And, this navy sweater is the best way to show off your wild side without actually dancing. It’s partly hysterical and partly risqué (did you see the elves in thongs?), which makes it the perfect conversation starter at parties.
2. Custom Party Nativity Scene Sweater
This build-your-own sweater comes with tear-off embroidered patches so you can customize the nativity scene however you want. (There’s even a keg patch because why not?) Just one tip: don’t wear this to church with your family.
3. Partysaur Sweater
Raise your hands if you can see Ross from Friends wearing this. There’s nothing like a “Partysaur sweater,” to show off your nerdy side at a holiday party. But maybe keep the dino talk to a minimum? If your friends or coworkers seem uninterested, say they’re the Jonas brothers reincarnated into dinosaurs.
4.Merry Christmas Ugly Sweater
This sweater is basically a Christmas tree. Snowflakes, check. Silver tinsel, check. Lights, check check. The only thing that’s missing is the star, though, to be fair, you might be the star of the party in this number. Don’t be surprised if you win first place in the ugly sweater contest. You deserve it.
5. Amazon Ugly Fair Isle Sweater
Cuffing season is upon us, but if you haven’t found the one to binge-watch The Haunting of Hill House with, it’s okay. This funny sweater is like a giant billboard to all the other single people in the room that you’re ready to jingle mingle. Grab yourself a beer or wine and then wait for the dates (or at least fun conversations) to roll in.
6. Boohoo Mr & Mrs Elf Twin Christmas Jumper
Turn the ugly sweater Christmas party on its head by showing up in this connected top. Choose your partner wisely as you’ll spend the entire night stuck together. I have a feeling this will be the crowd pleaser at every party, so buy it before I personally order all of them for my friends.
7. Asos Christmas Slogan Sweater
Okay, this sweater isn’t that ugly. But, would you normally wear a bright green top with glittery gold sequins that say “Merry Christmas” and ho-ho-ho in block letters. I rest my case. If you want a sweater that’s a little less flashy than the others on this list, get this one.
8.OnCoast1 The Rock Jingle Bell Sweater
Fans of The Rock a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson will obsess over this holiday sweater. Make sure the DJ at the party plays “Jingle Bell Rock,” then get yourself front and center on the dance floor. Afterwards, when your feet are tired, collapse on a chair and take this hilarious “which rock would you rather climb?” poll.
9.H&M Knit Sweater
This H&M Christmas sweater will have the wearer torn. Is it ugly or is it cute? The dashing polar bear totally throws you off, I know. Personally, I would happily wear this to the office with jeans and boots around December and not be embarrassed. On the other hand, it is very bright…and there’s a lot happening. See what I mean about feeling torn?

5 Stylish Winter Outfits to Wear

There’s nothing more unbearable than dressing for a frigid winter morning. If you didn’t plan out your outfit the night before, it’s easy to slip into the same three pieces you’ve been wearing all season long: a black sweater, black high-waisted skinny jeans, and black boots. Yes, I’ve been taking the easy way out.
So I’ve made a resolution to challenge myself. The first step isn’t to shop for a whole new wardrobe, it’s to breathe new life into my old winter items by reworking those pieces into a completely new outfit. For some quick inspiration, look to the street style stars who always have a few styling tricks up their puffy sleeves. I’ve decoded their genius hacks, below, for my sake and yours.
1.Pile on the Layers
There’s no avoiding layers if you want to stay warm. Fashion-girls start with a leopard coat, below that, a leather jacket or checked blazer to contrast the animal print. One more layer down, you’ve got a cashmere or wool sweater paired with a skirt. Ankle boots and tights make for the perfect finishing touches.
2. Bundle Up in a Floral Puffer Coat
For those still in denial that summer is truly over, a fun floral puffer might ease your pain. It’s such a statement piece that you can go subtle with your other items, like black skinny jeans and Converse kicks. A white crossbody bag completes your street style–worthy
3. Don’t Fear Metallic Outerwear
Stand out in a sea of black coats with a metallic jacket. This season you’ll find the color splashed on shearling outerwear and puffers, giving you plenty of opportunities to shine—literally. Take a cue from fashion influencer and designer Chiara Ferragni and style yours with an all-black ensemble consisting of a hoodie and skinny jeans. You don’t need to over accessorize in this case, sneaks and a chic bag will do.
4. Embrace Winter Pastels
There’s no rule that says you can’t wear springtime colors in the winter. Build an outfit around a pastel-colored coat (winter blues, anyone?), matching your earrings and shoes to your outerwear. If you’re feeling brave, tuck your sweater into a leather miniskirt sans tights. Bonus: The pastel coat transitions seamlessly from winter to spring.
5. Cozy Up in a Knitted Set
Knit pants have the comfort of sweats, but a more elevated finish. Opt for similarly colored separates to create a matching set. Then, throw on an oversize blazer and swap your couch slippers for a pair of sock boots. The ensemble looks smart and sophisticated, while remaining as comfy as PJs. Sunglasses optional.
